# A New Foundation for B2C Europe’s Customer Portal B2C Europe partnered with Dawn Technology to develop a completely renewed version of its Customer Pages platform. The existing system was technically outdated, difficult to extend and heavily dependent on a single developer. We delivered a modern, maintainable solution designed to support future growth and increasing logistics volumes. - CMS **Discovery**## An Outdated System Limiting Growth Customer Pages is the portal where customers register shipments, track delivery statuses, update addresses and print shipping labels. The existing platform had been in operation for more than ten years and had evolved into a fragmented technical landscape. It consisted of a mix of PHP, ASP, DLLs and Dreamweaver-generated components, with no clear separation between business logic and presentation. Documentation was limited and the lack of a structured architecture made enhancements risky and maintenance heavily dependent on the knowledge of a single individual. B2C Europe needed a new platform that would be robust, transferable and capable of supporting future business growth. **Design & development**## Clear Specifications and a Modern Architecture To keep the project manageable and ensure predictable delivery, we divided the approach into two distinct phases: **Functional Specifications** A complete set of functional specifications was created, ensuring all requirements were clearly documented, testable and independently usable throughout the project lifecycle. **Development of the New Platform** Once the requirements had been validated, we proceeded with the development of the new Customer Pages platform. This structured approach created clarity around requirements, reduced project risk and provided a scalable framework for development. The new system was built on an open-source LAMP architecture, selected for its stability, maintainability and flexibility. This modern foundation provides a clear separation of responsibilities, making the platform easier to manage, extend and support over time.
