# Atris Coach: Intelligent AI Coaching That Gives Healthcare Professionals Time Back

Atris is dedicated to improving rehabilitation and recovery care. There was a growing need for a solution that could actively support patients while reducing the workload of healthcare professionals. Dawn Technology developed Atris Coach: a scalable AI-powered platform that automates coaching, motivates patients and provides actionable insights throughout the recovery journey.

**Discovery**## The Need for Smart, Scalable Coaching

The existing Atris platform already offered valuable activity and movement monitoring, but lacked a sustainable way to automate coaching. Healthcare professionals spent significant time on repetitive check-ins, task management and answering patient questions. At the same time, patients wanted more personalised guidance that could adapt to their symptoms, performance and pace of recovery.

Atris identified three key requirements:

1. Automation of routine tasks, such as assigning and distributing exercises and activities
2. Motivational support tailored to patient behaviour and progress
3. A reliable symptom checker capable of providing safe, validated responses

**Design & development**## From Insights to an AI-Powered Coaching Platform

We developed Atris Coach as a flexible, future-proof module that integrates seamlessly with the existing Atris infrastructure.

**Automated Tasks & Intelligent Workflows**

Healthcare professionals can create task templates that are automatically assigned to patient cases. Patients receive their activities and assignments via email, tailored to the appropriate frequency and intensity. Both patients and care providers can monitor progress in real time through a centralised platform.

**Motivational AI Powered by Amazon Nova Lite**

For personalised motivational messaging, we selected Amazon Nova Lite due to its language accuracy, GDPR compliance, consistent tone-of-voice management and efficient performance.

Messages automatically adapt to patient behaviour and progress. Positive reinforcement is provided when patients stay on track, while communication becomes more directive when adherence decreases. Only progress-related data is processed; sensitive medical information is never used within the motivational AI workflow.

**Dynamic Task Generation - Recovery That Adapts to the Patient**

When patients report symptoms or limitations, AI automatically generates alternative tasks and exercises. These dynamically generated recommendations are flagged for review by the medical team, who can approve, modify or convert them into new task templates.

This ensures that coaching remains personalised, realistic and aligned with the patient’s current condition.

**RAG-Powered Symptom Checker**

Using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Atris Coach answers medical questions based exclusively on a physician-approved knowledge base.

The result is a fully traceable system with no risk of hallucinated medical advice. The symptom checker presents potential causes along with confidence scores, helping patients gain earlier insights while reducing the number of routine questions directed at healthcare professionals.

Atris Coach makes rehabilitation smarter and more personal without increasing the workload of healthcare professionals.
