# Icetubs: An exclusive app for the cold-water experience Icetubs aims to make cold-water therapy more accessible and effective. We helped them develop a brand-new app that perfectly aligns with their brand and completes the ice bath experience. Working closely with Icetubs and their users, we translated the physical cold-water experience into a seamless digital one. - Lifestyle - Innovatie - Mobile - Innovationlab **Discovery**## Digitally enhancing the ice bath therapy experience [Icetubs](https://icetubs.com/nl/) makes cold-water therapy accessible to a growing community of users. With premium ice baths, the brand delivers an experience that has both physical and mental impact. To digitally elevate that experience, Icetubs decided to move away from the generic manufacturer app. Their ambition: to create a proprietary app that seamlessly integrates with the brand and offers more than just temperature control.Icetubs partnered with Dawn Technology to bring its vision to life. We began with a user research study among existing customers to pinpoint where the app could truly add value. The findings guided the design and helped identify new opportunities that had not yet been explored. **Design & development**## A personalized app Based on user insights, Dawn Technology designed and built a completely new application with the exclusive look and feel that defines the Icetubs brand. The app welcomes users with a personalized onboarding, guides them through the process of pairing their bath, and provides tailored advice for their first cold-water dip. We integrated all core functionalities such as temperature control, pump operation, and session timers and added distinctive touches like a custom session sound and in-app tips on maintenance and use. The result: a total experience within an interface that feels like an extension of the product itself. **Conclusie**## Future plans The MVP version of the app has now been released and will be expanded throughout 2025. Following a pilot phase, it will be made available to all existing and new Icetubs customers. The app connects to the ice bath via an IoT integration, enabling users to adjust settings or control the bath remotely. To achieve this, we developed a custom plugin that securely links the phone’s native functions to the Tuya infrastructure. Every key feature requested by users was implemented, thanks to the design sprint that began with user research. Icetubs has also announced plans to further expand the app’s functionality in the near future, giving users even more support in their cold-water therapy journey.
