# Iworkx Safety Plan: Intelligent Risk Assessment Software for Maximum Safety at Strukton Rail

Safety is a top priority at Strukton Rail, where more than 25,000 Risk Inventories and Evaluations (RI&Es) are conducted every year. Together with Dawn Technology, Strukton developed the Iworkx Safety Plan: a powerful open-source solution that delivers efficiency, clarity and confidence for every project.

**Discovery**## Outgroing Excel, Time for Innovation

For many years, Strukton relied on Excel to create and manage RI&Es. While effective initially, the growing complexity of projects, regulations and data eventually pushed the solution beyond its limits. Work planners were spending increasing amounts of time on administration and verification, while safety instructions became too extensive and difficult to use in practice.

Strukton needed a more efficient system that could provide clear insight into project risks before work began, while automatically incorporating the latest safety legislation and regulations. The new solution also needed to be open-source, scalable and easy to maintain within the organisation’s existing IT landscape.

**Design & development**## Efficiency and Compliance in a Single Platform

Using Strukton’s existing demonstration model as a foundation, Dawn Technology developed the new RI&E platform through an iterative approach. Each sprint delivered visible progress, helping to build support and engagement throughout the organisation.

The resulting solution, Iworkx Safety Plan, automatically calculates complex risk assessments, links mitigation measures to relevant legislation and generates concise, practical safety instructions for operational teams.

Built on an open-source architecture, the platform performs complex calculations behind the scenes while maintaining a simple and intuitive user experience. This combination of advanced functionality and ease of use significantly reduces the administrative burden on employees while improving safety outcomes.

**Conclusie**## Faster, safer and smarter

Today, the Iworkx Safety Plan has become an indispensable tool within Strukton Rail. Creating a complete RI&E now takes just five to ten minutes instead of approximately one hour.

Safety instructions are more concise, easier to understand and fully compliant with applicable laws and regulations. The result is greater safety across rail projects, reduced time pressure for employees and a stronger reputation for professionalism and reliability.

Strukton is currently exploring international deployment opportunities for the Iworkx Safety Plan and continues to work closely with Dawn Technology to further enhance the platform and support an even safer future.
