Every year, hundreds of thousands of computers in the Netherlands become infected with botnets. To address this growing issue, internet service providers, SIDN, and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs founded the Abuse Information Exchange Association to consolidate and share infection data.
The challenge was that information originated from countless sources and formats. Members needed a single platform capable of standardizing, analyzing, and prioritizing data. In addition, the platform had to be open source, enabling knowledge sharing across the community. Dawn Technology was selected because of our technical expertise, realistic planning approach, and strong focus on quality over price.
We translated the extensive set of requirements into a scalable and future-proof architecture. AbuseHUB was developed as an open-source platform that converts data from multiple sources into a standardized format. The software automatically analyzes abuse reports, enriches them with intelligence, and calculates a priority score. This enables participating providers to instantly identify which incidents require immediate action.
To ensure scalability and performance, we implemented an innovative processing approach that allows the platform to handle large volumes of data with ease. Within four months, a stable production environment was delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Today, AbuseHUB processes data from multiple sources and helps providers respond more quickly to botnet infections. The platform reduces costs, improves operational efficiency, and encourages knowledge sharing across the sector.
The collaboration resulted not only in a reliable platform, but also in a long-term partnership built on mutual trust.
