Pathé serves millions of cinema visitors every year. Mobile ticket purchases play a central role in the customer journey, where speed, reliability and ease of use directly influence the experience. At the same time, payment security and privacy are non-negotiable.

The introduction of Apple Pay created a clear opportunity. Pathé wanted to offer its visitors a faster checkout experience without exposing sensitive card data or adding complexity to the app flow. The challenge was to implement a payment method that would feel effortless for the user, while fully meeting Apple’s strict security requirements and Pathé’s high standards for financial transactions.

## Design & Development

Dawn Technology handled the full Apple Pay integration within the iOS Pathé app. Each transaction is processed using Apple’s device-specific tokenisation and unique transaction codes. Card numbers are never stored on the device, never on Apple’s servers and never shared with Pathé itself. This ensures maximum privacy and security for every single payment.

From the user’s perspective, the experience is fully frictionless. Cinema tickets are stored directly in the Apple Wallet and checkout is completed in seconds using Face ID, Touch ID or Apple Watch. Payments no longer require switching between banking apps or carrying physical cards.

The implementation required close technical alignment between Apple’s payment infrastructure and Pathé’s backend systems. The result is a stable, compliant and future-proof payment flow that supports high transaction volumes without performance degradation.
