# Artwork Connect: A Scalable D2P Platform for Graphic Assets at Volkers

Volkers is a specialist in packaging and graphic production processes. From leading consumer brands to private labels, the company helps brand owners and retailers maintain control over their artwork, from initial design to print-ready files. To give customers greater autonomy in managing their graphic assets, Dawn Technology partnered with Volkers to develop Artwork Connect: a scalable SaaS platform that digitises the entire Design-to-Publish (D2P) process.

**Discovery**## From Internal Portal to Scalable Customer Platform

As a D2P partner, Volkers manages terabytes of graphic assets for its customers, including images, logos, certifications, fonts and print-ready files. The existing internal portal could no longer meet the growing demand from customers who wanted direct control over their brand assets and publishing workflows.

Volkers therefore decided to build a new platform: simple, intuitive and fast, with the ambition of creating a true “wow” experience for users. During the search for a reliable development partner, Dawn Technology stood out through its technical vision, realistic project planning and ability to challenge ideas constructively.

**Design & development**## From Vision to Scalable Platform

Before development started, Dawn Technology helped Volkers establish a solid foundation for the project. Through a series of interactive workshops, business goals, user needs and priorities were translated into clear user stories. Story mapping provided insight into dependencies, workflows and the initial product backlog. This approach bridged the gap between business and technology while creating broad support throughout the organisation.

Development then began on Artwork Connect, built as a [PHP/Laravel](https://dawn.tech/en/specialism/php-applications) web application with a modern Vue.js frontend. The platform follows an event-driven architecture, ensuring that every action is traceable while making historical data and analytics easily accessible.

An integrated Elasticsearch search engine enables users to find files within seconds, while the scalable SaaS foundation ensures that customers can continue to grow without limitations. Users can complete virtually any task, whether searching, editing, sharing or publishing assets, in just a few clicks.
