Smart Technology, Seamless User Experience
Together with Groenendijk, we designed and developed an entirely new web application. The backend was built in Laravel and integrated with several business-critical systems, including Exact. The frontend was designed to be modern, intuitive and fully aligned with Groenendijk’s visual identity.
The application communicates directly with a 3D foot scanner located inside the mobile fitting trailer. As soon as a soldier’s feet are scanned, the measurement data is automatically transferred into the application. The measurements are then combined with preferences regarding boot type and model, depending on the user’s role or mission requirements.
Smart validation mechanisms and an additional verification step minimise the risk of data-entry errors.
One of the most important technical challenges involved so-called "split sizing" scenarios, where a person requires different shoe sizes for their left and right foot. We developed custom logic that automatically identifies and processes these cases. With a single selection, both sizes are recorded, allowing the correct pair of boots to be located instantly among hundreds of available combinations.
The project was delivered using an agile methodology with two-week sprints, enabling close collaboration between us, Groenendijk and the Ministry of Defence. Within the required timeframe, a stable and fully functional application was successfully deployed, both in the mobile fitting trailer and in the shop-in-shop location in Soesterberg.
