NoviaCura partnered with Dawn Technology to develop a scheduling system that makes mobile dental care more efficient. Existing tools could not handle the complexity of their operations, creating the need for a smart, tailor-made solution.
NoviaCura provides comprehensive dental care to vulnerable and care-dependent individuals, often on-site using specialised Dental Cars operated by its parent company, Van Venrooy.
This service model requires highly accurate planning, bringing together a wide range of variables: the availability of the mobile clinic manager, dental professionals, healthcare institutions and individual patient preferences.
No off-the-shelf scheduling solution could effectively process this level of complexity. NoviaCura needed a system capable of balancing the needs of all stakeholders without creating additional administrative burdens for healthcare staff.
During a series of collaborative workshops involving our designers, developers and the NoviaCura team, we identified the key bottlenecks and mapped out the ideal workflow for a future-proof scheduling solution.
We developed a combination of a smart scheduling application and a visual planning board that takes all relevant scheduling factors into account.
The workflows and user interfaces were designed iteratively in close collaboration with NoviaCura. The guiding principle was simple: keep the experience intuitive for users while embedding sophisticated intelligence behind the scenes.
The platform integrates with existing dental software through APIs, ensuring that critical information is always available in real time. Based on staff availability, recurring treatment schedules and logistical constraints, the system automatically assigns patients using a recommendation engine that continuously learns from previous planning decisions.
The result is a scheduling process that no longer relies on manual coordination and endless adjustments. Instead, the platform transforms complexity into reliable and efficient schedules.
With the new scheduling platform, nursing and care staff no longer need to be heavily involved in planning activities. Unnecessary phone calls and email exchanges have been largely eliminated, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on what matters most: providing quality care.
